Navaratri Celebrations
Seeking good fortune and prosperity for everyone! During the Navaratri Utsav - 2017, a day-long Devi Pooja with ‘kukumarchana’ and bhajan was organised on Durga astami. A large number of samaj bandhavas, especially ladies and children took part in this pious event and sought blessings from Mahalakshmi, Saraswati and Maha Shakti. It was indeed a memorable celebration that left a good imprint in the minds of our youngsters.
Ram Navami Celebrations
Worshiping the deeply revered Maryada Prushottam! Ram Navami is one of the most sacred days of the Hindu calander. Lord Sri Ram is considered as the embodiment all virtues. By observing the day and worshiping Him we strive to imbibe the goodness and do penance for the wrongs we might have done. The flower decoration of that day, pooja, aarti and the rocking of newly born Lord’s cradle were some of the highpoints of the celebrations. Partaking the ‘Mahaprasad’ in the community ‘samaradhana’ was purely a joyful experience.
Chudi Pooja
Sada sumangali bhava!’ Choodi Pooja is a unique custom observed by the ladies from the GSB community. During the event, Sumangalies honoured each other by presenting specially prepared ‘chudis’ (mini flower bunches), followed by a grand get-together including ‘bhojan’ and refreshments. Ladies from the Samaj has been taking lead in organising this colourful event that brings them together and help to develop strong bonds.
Adhik Maas Celebrations
Adhikmas occurs once in 3 years and the month is also known as Purushotham Mas. During this month, we Gowd Saraswath Brahmins perform various rituals like Bhagawath parayan, homas, Mahavishnu Anushthan and many others. GSB SAMAJ PUNE celebrated the ADHIKMASA by perfoming Sarvajanik Satyanarayan Pooja with 108 KALASHAS to seek Lord Vishnu’s blessing for our community. The day long celebrations and poojas were led by our Purohit Vedmurthy Shri Manjunath Vittal Bhat.
Karthik Ekadasi
Kartik Ekadasi is the Ekadashi that falls during the waxing phase of moon in Kartik Month (October - November), one of the holiest months is a Hindu calendar.
This day is also important because on this day, God Shiv killed the demon Tripura. This demon undertook severe austerities for a very long period at Prayag (Allahabad). Gods apprehending his likely gain of power, tried their best to interrupt his asceticism but in vain. Ultimately Brahma was pleased and awarded him a boon that he would nor die at the hands of a god or man. Having obtained this boon, he started inflicting atrocities on all and ultimately attacked Shiv's abode Kailasa. Shiv fought him and ultimately with the help of Brahma and Vishnu killed Tripura on this day, the full moon day of Kartik (October-November).
GSB Samaj Pune also conducted Bhajan program all throughout the day.
